This book provides analysis of inter agency cooperation with particular reference to the inter agency approach to tackling domestic violence. It explores the forum approach and examines how effective it is in bringing about communication, coordination and collaboration between agencies. Further, this book argues that whilst the positive attributes of inter agency policy and practice should be acknowledged, it is essential to avoid complacency by thinking that the implementation of an inter agency initiative guarantees success. Moreover, it is the manner in which inter agency initiatives are implemented, developed and monitored that influence their success or failure. Not considering the implications of power, culture and communication may lead to barriers to successful outcomes.
