This book is the result of the research work conducted in the highlands of Ethiopia at 3100 m.asl with 20 genotypes. Precise knowledge on the interrelationships of characters with each other and with yield is useful in the improvement of complex character, yield, for which direct selection has not been found much effective. Yield is a complex trait in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) and is generally considered to have low heritability. In order to design effective breeding strategies, adequate knowledge about the nature and magnitude of association between yield and yield related characters, therefore, is essential. Thus, it is hoped that this book can give an important information in order to plan and execute a successful breeding program to develop improved varieties in tropical highlands.
