This study analyzed the health issues in domestic water from the various sources available to us, using Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State as a case study. Information on water use and waste disposal practices of the residents were obtained through direct observation and oral interview of members of households randomly selected. The households sampled were 124; and single grab samples were obtained from 10 locations. Results from the study shows that 6.4% of the households have water flowing in their homes. 21.8% use water closet toilet system; what this implies is that 78.2% of the households do not have access to improved sanitation. The study further revealed that 95.5% of the households using river as their primary water source do not treat their water; and these households are the most vulnerable to water-related diseases. The percentage compliant of the tested samples for pH is 20%, revealing that the water sources in this area are acidic. For cadmium, the percentage compliant is 0%.
