The use of antibiotics, have come under increasing scrutiny because of the potential development of antibiotic resistant human pathogenic bacteria after long use. The people are demanding to poultry producers for development of alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters. Due to increased public awareness about health, people are serious for organic animal products. It is just because of residual effects of antibiotics in poultry products and development of resistance in pathogens against antibiotics. Poultry industry looking for alternatives to antibiotics which should have growth promoting effect, have no residual effect aditionally should be easy to use in poultry feed. Some of these alternatives may include significant changes in husbandry practices or the strategic use of enteric microflora conditioners, including acidifiers, enzymes, herbal products, microflora enhancers, immunomodulators especially probiotics. Strategic use of these alternative compounds will help to optimize growth, provided they are used in a manner that complements their modes of action.
