Particle-reinforced MMCs have been produced for research at universities roughly since the 1960's. Powder metallurgical production of these materials in experimental or prototype quantities followed several decades later, resulting in the birth of a powder metallurgical production base for these materials. A second impetus behind the development of these materials was in the 1980's of a process for their production using molten metal instead of far more expensive solid powder metal. The major problem in this technology is to obtain sufficient wetting of dispersoid by the liquid metal and to get a homogeneous dispersion of the ceramic particles. Among all the liquid-state processes, stir-casting technology is considered to be the most potential method for engineering application in terms of production capacity and cost efficiency. The author developed a double stir casting method to overcome this problem. The book is divided into five chapters to put the analyses in easily readable manners. The author hope that this book with aids many students, researchers and manufacturer in metal composites development.
