Cosmas Cobbold
One major problem facing developing countries is getting adequate number of qualified teachers to staff classrooms. In Ghana, this problem has become very acute at the Basic School level. This book presents research findings on policies and strategies for retaining teachers in Basic Schools in Ghana. Drawing on teacher perceptions of such policies and strategies, it highlights the need to take account of teacher perspectives and to complement monetary policies with non-monetary rewards in any efforts to retain teachers.
