Computer Literacy and Computerized Record System: an Overview of the University of Maiduguri Bukar Mamadu

Efficient and effective management of information has always posed a challenge in organizations, especially those that produce large number of records on a regular basis. Manual records management systems work well for smaller organizations, while computerized records management systems are of an advantage to larger organizations. These advantages can be gained mainly in the entry, editing and report production. These can be gained in terms of amount of space required to maintain such system, and enhancement in efficiency and effectiveness of users. An academic institution managing a large number of students? records gains significant advantages that encompass all aspects of data entry as well as retrieval, editing and report production, when a computerized records system is used. This book investigates how computer literacy affects the perception of possible advantages that can be gained from computerization of the records system of diploma students of the University of Maiduguri.
