It is the major free amino acid that is found in many animal tissues including the brain, retina, myocardium, skeletal muscle, liver, platelets, and leukocyte. The physiological functions of taurine include Its works as an inhibitory neurotransmitter and contributed to brain and retinal development , cell membrane stabilization , detoxification, its conjugation with the bile acid and fat metabolism, antioxidant and protecting blood vessels and blood cells from the oxidative damage, and controlling osmoregulation through membranes transport.
