Prevalence of Psychoactive Substance Use Among Students Dusica Rakic

During the last couple of years usage of legal and illegal psychoactive substances has got epidemic proportions, with tendency of increasing a number of users. The widespread habit of consuming alcohol, cigarettes and illegal psychoactive substances is a very serious medical and socio pathological problem in the world, especially in developing countries. The fact is that psychoactive substances are a significant factor in the creation of a mass of non-communicable diseases in the world, it is important to conduct a comprehensive epidemiological study that would give guidelines for the prevention of organized and efficient. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of psychoactive consumption habit, but also and correlation between alcohol, tobacco and illegal psychoactive substances usage among students. The research was planed as cross-sectional study, and was included 800 students. This study should be useful to professionals in public health field, but also to all young people, to indicate the harmful effects of the use of psychoactive substances.
