A Sound Personnel Policy is very essential for the success of any organisation either public or private so for as a public enterprise like APSRTC. Personnel Management is that part of the management function that is concerned with people at work and with their relationships within an enterprise. Its aim is to bring together and develop into an effective organization, the men and women who make up an enterprise and having regard to the well-being of an individual and of working groups, to enable to make their best contribution to its success. Planning, organizing, motivating and controlling are all basic managerial functions. Personnel Management is also known as the Human Resources Management today. The HRM function includes a variety of activities, recruiting and training the best employees, ensuring they are high performers, dealing with performance issues, managing employee benefits and compensation, employee records and personnel policies. Hence, a modest attempt is made this study to analyze the personnel management practices undertaken by APSRTC.
