Over the years organizations are facing the problem of abusive supervision. Compared with nonabused subordinates, abused subordinates have higher quit rates. Abusive supervision has a variety of consequences in the work organization. The ill-treatment on part of a colleague can be irritating but the illtreatment on part of a person who can exercise authority over employee becomes stressful and creates tension. In such state of mind the employees find there work as a mental sprain and their work become a burden for them due to lack of interest and energy. Organizations that follow abusive style of leadership eventually frustrate the employees leaving them with stress, emotional exhaustion and intentions to leave the job. The harmful consequences of abusive supervision highlight both the theoretical and practical importance of understanding how this phenomenon affects not only subordinates but their families as well.
