The Europeans are not the only heirs of the so-called Greek miracle. The first essay in this volume bears the intruiguing title The Greeks were no Europeans. Thirty articles of Gotthard Strohmaier, hitherto scattered over journals and Festschriften in various disciplines, are tracing the manifold aspects of the migration from Greek into Arabic and, in the case of astrological iconography, further into the Occident. They also give evidence of the intellectual mobility within the framework of classical Islam.
