Teaching and Learning of English Proficiency Courses Shameem Ahmed

There are good numbers of English language teaching centres in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They have flourished in Dhaka as well as other cities. They offer courses with different objectives. The popularity of those courses is indisputable. The need for them is also equally unarguable. But the quality of these courses is uncertain. No intensive research has yet been done to show the exact nature and quality of teaching in those centres. Moreover, the courses involve a number of problems: problem for teacher, problem for learners, problem of teaching methodology and teaching materials, problem of assessment and testing, problem of syllabus and curriculum etc. So the current study will investigate the above problems of the English teaching centres.
