Marriage and divorce have become the most prevalent sources of hardships for people. Even more amazing is our oblivion to see how all these personal pains and ensuing social chaos are merely due to our demented mentality about relationships. What is shock-ing is our reluctance to admit the depth of relationship dilemmas we have imposed upon ourselves. In fact, our ignorance, apathy, or denial shows the depth of our social numbness. Thus, marriage decisions must follow an educational process instead of being spontaneous (like an outburst of emotions). Con-sidering the lifetime consequences of marriage and divorce, we do not study the right factors and our motives properly or at all. When it comes to love and sex or the alleged benefits of marriage, we often lose our foresight and commonsense. We are fooled by the mirage of marriage too often. And we opt for divorce on the assumption that a suitable companion is waiting for us out there. Both sentiments cause only more hardships.
