New Beginnings tells of the journey of a woman (Beth) who was married in the 1950's to the man she thought was her Prince Charming and that she was going to live happily ever after. The myth is shattered as she discovers that in the real world, all is not sweetness and light. She overcomes the tragedies, grief, depression and loneliness and comes to the realization that she is responsible for her own happiness and the choices and decisions she makes. The book is a mixture of stark reality, romance, passion, sex and some humor. After the death of her husband, she begins dating as she finds men still find her attractive. She has more than a few love affairs and rediscovers her sexuality. The passion, lust and sex she partiticpates in is very explicit. How she evolves into an independent, self assured person who searches for true happiness, self-fulfillment and love is the premise of the novel.
