After so many years working with secular models of communication that seemed to be useless and even harmful to relationships between husband and wife, or parent and child- I finally learned through the Bible and how God made the brain that God's model of communication is upside down from man-made communication models. I would get so frustrated with couples who would follow the same old communication patterns in therapy sessions that they practiced for years and years in their marriage before they started counseling. One couple that I worked with for several years would stick to the same old conversation script despite all my corrections or instructions for a new script. I swear they had their script memorized and were sticking to it no matter what. Their words and body language were so predictable that I caught myself silently predicting what they would say and do next. For me, the experience was like watching the movie "Groundhogs Day" starring Bill Murray.
