Monsters represent our fears, with the Bug Eyed Monsters representing our worst ones. In the 1950s, Science Fiction stories gave us a metaphorical vision of what was confronting American society. Bug Eyed Monsters represented what was scaring our society most. Graphically, in the comic books, we confronted the post World War II, Post-Colonial Cold War demons and we symbolically overcame them.
