Words of My Soul Rosie Shields

After the many heart breaks and the death of my sister instead of searching outward to heal myself, I used my most powerful talent and tool; Art. I wrote this book to inspire, heal, cultivate new life and unravel not just myself but anyone who touches it, reads it or sees it. I was inspired to create a story telling picture book based off of the many novels I read as a child. I remember being fascinated with the idea that you could read the words and based on your understanding of written literature have a reference point to help the words make sense through illustrations. Every poem in "Words of my Soul" excluding the last one has some sort of visual context that goes hand in hand with the words written. The last poem is a camp fire story inspired also from my youth and the many nights I would go camping. There are never visuals present for camp fires just you and your imagination and I hope that by the time you the reader and viewer make it to the last poem your imagination is triggered beyond just the words.
