Ever since the Roswell crash in 1947, the Haut family has secretly held onto a series of journals that contain details of advanced alien technology. Whenever the family has needed money, they quietly sold one of the inventions in those pages. The Haut family was never supposed to have those journals. They were supposed to be returned to the grey aliens more than a 70 years ago under the terms of the top-secret Roswell Treaty between the aliens and the United States government. If the grey aliens learn that those journals are still in human hands, they will be back. And they won't be happy. This is why Samantha's family tasked her with keeping an eye on those journals - to have them available if they need the money but hidden away enough that the grey aliens don't realize that they still have these journals. The Haut family's arrangment had worked for decades until an investment banking executive learned about the journals. he steals them and begins selling the technology so fast that the grey aliens are likely to notice this much of their technology becoming availabe all at once. Samantha and her cousins, therefore, have to get those journals back before its too late.
