"You're Fat" "You're so short!" "You need to lose weight"... All negative phrases Juanita heard from childhood into adulthood from both outsiders and self-infliction. From a very young age, Juanita was conditioned to believe that how she looked and who she was wasn't good enough. Pressured by all the propaganda hype with the perception of the "perfect" body, and with being teased by family members, 'friends', and strangers, she found herself sinking helplessly into an abyss of deep depression, unhealthy habits, and extremely low self-esteem. It has taken Juanita well into her adult years to finally break away from the bondage of self-hatred, and exemplifies her bravery by removing the mask she's worn for so many years, in order to share her journey of finally becoming FREE with others who may suffer in silence. Juanita provides a candid glimpse into her overall health journey, with emphasis on her trials, triumphs, and the revelations she has learned along the way. It is her hope that by sharing her journey and the knowledge she's obtained, that countless others who can relate to her struggles can also become FREE - in mind, body, and spirit. 'Aweighted: A Journey between the Weight & the Wait' is a call for those who feel hopeless to find the courage to let go of the past, let go of unrealistic comparisons, to accept and embrace who they are, and to love themselves - flaws and all.
