Our Broken Rose is Kandis Newton's life story through the eyes of her parents. There are also accounts of priceless memories with those that loved her dearly. Kandis was destined to live a healthy life even when the odds were against her. She was born with a liver disease called Biliary Atresia. Her trials, struggles, and sometimes heartbreaking experiences left her more determined to prove that through her faith in God alone, along with her mom and dad's prayers, she could overcome every obstacle that hindered her from being like everyone else. She left a legacy of love to her family and friends through her faith in God, and perseverance in all things. In the twenty-three years of her life, Kandis inspired and impacted so many lives. It was an overwhelming experience to lose the gift that everyone had loved. Kandis' story illustrates what love and determination can do for everyone. Through the pages of Kandis' life story, Roy and Penny Newton's prayer is that lives will continue to be touched by the memory of their "Baby Girl."
