Can computers and humans live together? Ten years after the invention of computers that can think and act independently, the country is in crisis. The thinking machines are called scions. Some experts see scions as the path to a Utopia where no one ever need work again. Others fear that the elimination of wages and jobs will destroy the economy and society itself. Then a scion makes a bold and shocking move, and protesters stage more violent demonstrations. It is a time of crisis. Capitalism itself is at risk. Both scions and humans, working together and independently, race to find a way to save the economy and society before it spirals down into revolution.
