By 2015 Brodie had hiked the Foothills Trail five of six times. A seventy-six-mile long trail that meanders through the foothills of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. This hiker discovers that thinking is inseparable from hiking and that our natural world is an escape from humanity. Four solo hikes and two in company makes for some great stories hiking and even canoeing along the Foothills Trail. Hike five's twenty mile days, over hills, through downpours and over flooded rivers is the canvas for all six hikes. Time, strategy and a euphoric view of forests and trees mingle in the pages of this book.
