The story unfolds in Florence, it presents the reflections of a man of fifty-two, his current life, because he did not marry, did not have children, etc. and begins to remember and to travel through the places where he was with a lady twenty-seven years before, he presents it, at first, with a certainty that his behavior when he was next to her and the final decision that he took, were well founded and was what better, remembrance is done in a rational, measured way, with no hint of regret that he had done wrong, even if a little bit of nostalgia escaped him. "... The place was perfectly empty-that is, it was filled with HER."
