World War II in the Pacific covered a vast area; however a primary focus of the war effort was on the Philippine Islands. Many Americans and Filipinos lost their lives there during this conflict. Many of them are still listed as missing in action. This is the true story of one of the missing, Francis Ford, Patrol Bombing Squadron 101, and World War II in the Philippines. The heavy bomber squadrons, somewhat unique in the U. S. Navy, flew the heavy four engine- B-24 Liberator, known as the PB4Y-1 in the naval service. This is a story of the war, and the last mission of the Miller's High Life, their aircraft, and of the eleven men who left Morotai early in the morning of October 19, 1944. Four would never return.
