Betty tensed as she merged onto the southbound access ramp of I-95. No matter the time of day, the interstate was congested with cars exceeding the speed limit. This stretch of I-95 was under construction. Signs warned of trucks entering the highway. As she focused on driving, she tried to block out the regrets that gnawed at her peace of mind.

"Are you ready to begin your new adventure, Betty?" A voice startled her from the passenger seat.

"Zvie!" She took her eyes from the road to look at him. "Where did you come from? How did you get here?"

"Trust me, Betty. I'll explain later." He smiled to reassure her.

Betty turned back to the road as a tanker truck edged into her lane. She blasted the horn, but the driver didn't react. Sandwiched by cars behind and adjacent to her, she had no place to go.

Her heart raced. "No!"
