This romantic fiction follows a shy guy, Doug Anderson, as he meets three ladies on a horseback riding adventure that not only takes him from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan, but also allows him to find meaningful connections with friends and God.

Doug Anderson feels like a robot-emotionless and just going through the motions of living. He lives a boring and predictable life, and he finds it hard to connect to anyone and to God.

One snowy day, Dave Campbell, his elderly neighbor, invited him in for a cup of hot chocolate and a game of cribbage. Little did he know that this invitation that would change his life.

Dave teaches him how to play cribbage and also introduces him to Judy Hill, his niece. Judy is in town to buy a horse for a two-week horseback riding trip with the Trail Riders. Doug is interested to get to know Judy, and in a spur-of-the-moment decision, he decides to join the trip even though he has never ridden a horse before. Dave recommends his friend Rosie Miller as his riding teacher.

Rosie's redheaded daughter, JoAnn, also catches Doug's attention. She is cute, intelligent, and well read. JoAnn and Rosie teach him about everything about horses. They offer to have him join their team and allow him to rent one of their horses for the trip.

On the first day of the trip, he meets the Millers' rig jumper, Jayelle Young. He finds her pretty and fun to be with. They also share a love for crossword puzzles.

Throughout the two-week ride, Doug discovers more than he bargained for as he made connections with the three women who are all different and wonderful in their own way. How will he know who is the right one for him? And if he does, will he be able to overcome his fears and doubts about relationships and marriage?
