A young Russian teenager travels to Alaska with his parents to obtain lend-lease supplies at the beginning of World War II. Both of his parents are killed during the raid on Dutch Harbor and Alexander is sent to the mainland of Alaska to stay with an American family until the end of the war. The influence of the Hunt family has a strong impact on Alexander and he decides to defect.
