Baseball America's Before They Were Stars The Editors of Baseball America

Derek Jeter, Pedro Martinez, Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Bryce Harper. Before those Future Hall of Famers vaulted into Major League stardom they were top prospects. What were scouts saying about them? How did they compare to their peers in speed, power and arm strength? For more than 35 years, Baseball America has been the authority on identifying the future stars of the game and BA's annual Prospect Handbook is the bible for scouts, executives and fans alike. In this new book, we go deep into the Baseball America archives and pull out all our scouting reports for more than 250 players who went on to become Major League stars.

For the second edition of Before They Were Stars the Baseball America staff will update the player roster to include current stars of the sport and add veterans who missed the cut in 2018. The 2019 edition will include past scouting reports on Christian Yelich, Alex Bregman, Cody Bellinger, Javier Baez, Blake Snell and others. Look for new photos throughout the book in 2019, plus comprehensive prospect rankings to segment current and former MLB stars. Like the 2018 edition, the Baseball America staff will go deep into the archives and pull out all our scouting reports for more than 250 players who went on to become Major League stars.
