In the summer of 1962, Andy decided to visit the miners at the California Butte Mine. He wanted to learn to find gold. Bored by the hot dusty town of Ransburg and the tiny shop his mother sold curios in, he set out toward Red Mountain. On the way, he encountered a mine shaft.
