The classic and definitive history of the Gallipoli campaign with a new introduction by Sir Max Hastings. Moorehead, the finest war correspondent of his generation, recounts why the campaign was so important in the lessons it taught and why it continues to have such an emotional hold on the present day, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.

Marc Notes: Previous edition: London: Hamish Hamilton, 1956.; Includes bibliographical references and index.; The Gallipoli campaign of 1915 was designed to force Turkey out of the war and bring supplies and arms to the Russians. The campaign proved to be a costly failure. Using private papers and official records, this book recreates the Gallipoli campaign.
