Idle chatter over a late-night game of poker turns into reality when three buddies plot to kidnap the Premier of New South Wales. Atherton, the bitter accountant who works for the police department; Sims the disheartened accountant working for an engineering firm; and Herbert, the out-of-work clerk, all have one thing in common. All are disillusioned with life and are looking for a way out of poverty, broken marriages and boredom. As they skilfully fine-tune the plot, originally masterminded by Atherton, each dreams of how his life will change once his share of the ransom money is received. The story is full of intrigue, mystery and suspense. And. . . just as the reader thinks there are no more surprises in store an interesting twist comes about!
