What it is about: Few relationships can be more complex and complicated than the one between an executive and his secretary (or, of course, between an executive and her secretary) No wonder, when you are a man and she a woman (or the exact opposite) and you spend more time with your secretary and maybe travel more with him or her than with your wife or husband. This proximity creates a field of tension which has to be addressed: The way you handle your secretary and how you communicate with each other will set an example for company culture and for the other staff. To engage in positive and constructive communication will set a more valid example than all well-meant appeals.
