The Revolutionary War was about to begin, and tensions ran high with all involved. David Rittenhouse was convinced to relocate to Philadelphia by Thomas Barton, and Dr. William Smith, Provost of the College of Philadelphia, to help promote his orrery. Philadelphia did not prove to be a happy time for David, as tragedy struck his family, but he was determined to not let it hold him back from all of his potential.
