Count Torio Galamaine escaped death to the safety of Hawksport, his son Sirel is lost within the wilds of Calideer, and Sir Novin Ravenwing is still in the clutches of the Church of the Moon. Garion must now choose whether to take the reigns of leadership of the Dawn Watch to further the rebellion or attempt to rescue his mentor from certain death. While Garion struggles with his new role, Novin Ravenwing sits within his cell awaiting his death.
