During our in-depth study of the novel, The Broken Wings, we found on websites that publish old books a copy of the first edition of the same novel, published in 1912 by the Meraat-ul-Gharb (Mirror of the West) newspaper. On the cover is a translation of the novel's title to English, handwritten by Gibran Khalil Gibran. This copy belonged to Mary Haskell, who gifted it to the University of North Carolina in 1951. After comparing it with the editions of the collected Complete Works in particular, we found some differences in them. There are many words that have been altered, either because they are typographical or grammatical errors in the Arabic language, or those who made the change preferred one word over the other. In the face of this dilemma of change, we found it necessary to conduct a scientific investigation of the text of this first edition (Meraat-ul-Gharb, 1912), with an analytical study of the novel entitled: "The Wings of the Spirit and the Path to Salvation." Our question remains in this research: Who is the person who made these modifications? Is it Gibran himself, or someone else still unknown to us?
