Existing as a Black woman in America means facing systemic-racism, gender-inequality, and overall social injustice. We are in a perpetual state of reminding others that our Black Lives Matter and our bodies are our own. However, there's more to our experiences. The poems on these pages are devoted to presenting you a more complete, truthful, and accurate representation of the American Black Woman. The words explore our love, our culture, our struggle, and our 'magic.' Finding self-love and acceptance as a Black woman in America requires gaining confidence, overcoming insecurities, and tapping into that 'Black Girl Magic' we are gifted. The Black Experience demonstrates seeing and loving the beauty in the mirror, conquering the struggles we face, and remembering our power and humanity throughout it all.
