Ray Kurzweil, a computer scientist at Google, predicts that a singularity is approaching and will occur sometime in the next 50 years. This will be the point at which computers will become equal to humans in the ability to think. This paper questions the possibility, in principle, of this singularity. Humans have a dimension that we call spiritual. Our thesis is that this dimension is forever beyond the reach of computing machines.
