As a result, he made a mistake which landed him in juvenile hall. While in juvenile hall, he decided that he would not be another statistic. So, when he was released he excelled in school with the help of his counselor. Derrick was determined to make the positive words his mother spoke over him his reality. He was determined to be great and do great things. This is a family book for all children who have experienced adversity and need some encouragement and motivation.
