High school sophomore Peter Baer had everything going for him before ending up in the river with a rope around his neck. Hired to find his killer, detective-in-training Cat Caliban begins digging for Peter's secrets and finds them in an evangelical ministry, where the star attraction is a chimpanzee named Evie.




Going undercover means curbing her salty tongue and impersonating a mild-mannered grandmother, but Evie knows a fellow hellraiser when she sees one and nearly blows Cat's cover. Cat is forced to learn enough about computers to track several missing teenagers through the ministry's files. But for the trickier computer work, she relies on her teenaged cousin, computer nerd Delbert Sweet. Soon both Del and Evie are in danger from someone who is desperate to guard their own secrets.




Can Cat crack the case before a killer strikes again? Will Evie find a way to tell what she knows?
