Barren - Yearning for Motherhood Nataly Shohat

For over a decade, Fertility waged a personal battle with infertility. After a series of fertility treatments that proved unsuccessful, she and her husband finally decided to adopt two children - a boy and a girl. She then began to "give birth" to stories that touch on numerous approaches to the issue of infertility and the desire for children. The resulting collection reflects many personality types and crosses geographical borders and eras. In all, hope plays a starring role. A few of the questions inside: -Where did secular Dafna go when she followed two religious women she didn't know? -What worried Princess Amonet, the daughter of Pharaoh Ramses II, before she adopted Moses? -Why was Helga, wife of a Nazi physician, happy about the pregnancy of her maid Hannah? -What did Yakot decide when her husband suggested taking a second wife? -Why did Nurit get angry at the psychologist in the IVF unit at the hospital? -What did Parvati do to soften her mother-in-law's attitude? This collection of nineteen bittersweet and fascinating short stories offers a window onto the journey to realizing a universal wish - to become a mother. In the margins, you'll discover the author's insights on the issues of adoption and fertility treatments. Nataly Shohat is married and a mother of two.
