Despite the Turmoil is set in the small town of Bradley Maine, 12 miles from Bangor. It is a continuation of the story I told in Elizabeth's Journey. Elizabeth's husband, William, now drafted, joins the 20th Maine Infantry. His unit joins the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Back home life continues with Elizabeth, their children and her neighbors. The Civil War though fought far away still impacts the citizens of the small town.
