The Water Raiders
Sally Walker Brinkmann
If you were intrigued by Rebel Traveler's hero, Dan Fields, the soldier who fell through time from 1862 to 2010, you'll want to follow him and his family in Water Raiders which is set in 2028. Dan, his wife Allie and Anna, their teenaged daughter, are caught up in a severe drought situation. Since West Virginia is one of the few areas in the country which still has an abundance of water, formidable forces align to steal this resource. Dan's cousin, Dillon, has become a feared warlock and joined a group of unscrupulous crooks who swarm to Appalachia. Since federal and state authorities can't control the situation, local residents must act. The Fields family joins with others who want to protect nature. Different factions of the Fey, an ancient magical tribe, have cast their lot with either the water raiders or the Fields alliance. Anna Fields has inherited the knowing from her great-grandmother, Anna Mae, a gifted wise woman in her day. Finding that the words to summoning chants come naturally to her, the girl is awed by her growing powers. She realizes she can be helpful in the battle to save the water. Anna is also fascinated by the young Fey Prince, Rad, and the magical world of the Fey.
