This work began as an award-winning Harvard Master's thesis, earning the Director's Prize for Outstanding ALM Thesis in International Relations before evolving into a book. The data included was based on research gathered from statistics reported by the FBI and other distinguished organizations such as the ACLU. References to well-reputed media sources in addition to literature recognized for high levels of academic integrity were used to gather the information contained in this book.
