I Took God To College With Me Lois Blyden

I was inspired by my many encounters with College students who have had difficulties along their way to obtaining their degree to write this book. Many were the first in their families to attend college, so the pressure was felt by them not to fail. Though I was not the first to attend College in my family, my science teacher had placed such a fear in me that if I did not apply myself and study hard, that I may not make it through college. Since the island of St. Thomas was small, if you left to attend college, everyone knew when you started your journey and whether you successfully completed it. Therefore, if I had flunked out of college it would have been a major embarrassment for my family and me. Before I began my college experience, I prayed to God and I asked Him to be with me and to help me along the way. During those four years, I read the whole Bible three times and knew when to apply and confess His word to any situation or difficulties that I experienced. If it was not for my faith, I am not sure how I would have made it. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and made my parents and family proud. My goal is to encourage all students to believe in themselves and to know that, with God on your side you can make it. Hard times may come but, like His word says, "Many are the afflictions of the Righteous, but the Lord delivers us out of them all." I have been a College Professor for more than 20 years, and I have had students who came to my office and confided in me about their struggles and difficulties that they were experiencing. They would ask me, "how did you make it all the way through to graduation day or was it not difficult for you?" I would always respond, it was easy, I took God to college with me. In this book, I have provided my experiences, scriptures, and songs to help any college student make it through any difficult situation. So, I say to all college bound students, please do like me and take God to college with you. Lois A. Blyden, Esq.
