This book is an over the artist shoulder look at the creation of the encaustic painting "The Gift". Encaustic is a 2000 year old painting medium used by the Romans, Greeks and the Fayum Egyptian portrait artist. The meaning behind the painting is simply the innocence of a child in the act of giving two flowers to someone whom they care for very much. This simple act is out of pure love which is one of the jewels of our childhood. As we grow older the innocent act gets tangled up in the stages of our life. We lose that unconditilnal love and trust of our childhood.
