On a warm day in May, I sold our bed out from under my sleeping, sick wife. Over the next two days, we gave away almost everything we owned so we could move our young family of five to Slovenia. Despite our complete lack of foreign language skills, we enrolled our three elementary school-aged children in the Log-Dragomer school system, and I went to work teaching ESL in Ljubljana. We were not ministers or appointed missionaries, nor were we educated beyond a high school diploma, but we had heard from God. As a personal testimony, it is far from a ministry guide or theological meditation. Rather, it is a patchwork of observations on how we heard from God, and what we did about it. It is our wish that the Holy Spirit will use this testimony to encourage someone who perceives a calling from God, but is uncertain what to do. You might be an ESL Missionary if: * You've ever stood at the counter in a grocery store with five people behind you, and ordered a buttered cash register in the local language.* You've ever brought home fifty bucks worth of veal when you were sent to get meat for a modest dinner because you used the local language at the corner butcher.* You've ever suddenly realized the young woman you're talking to thinks you're single because wedding rings are worn on the right hand in her country.* You've ever been ejected from a train at 3:00 am in Ostrava, Czech because your half of the train left without you while you were sleeping on the half that was going East.* A German man offers your wife a "ladybug" chocolate with romantic intentions!
