Written to emphasize what it was like for returning soldiers back in the States, "The Burden" is a story of a boy becoming a man, while also trying to find his way in life after experiencing the horrors of war and the disappointment of returning home to a Nation who isn't as excited to see him as he had expected. This short novel pulls back the covers on U. S. history and dusts off a generation of heroes who were grossly mistreated upon their return home from battle.
