This is a true story. An English civic war fought in Westminster, Dorchester, Bournemouth and Poole - but most of all in the small Dorset town of Christchurch. When war was over many residents of Christchurch were left feeling cheated and confused. Why had the powers that be completely ignored the outcome of their local referendum? Why had Hampshire Council refused to help them? Why had the High Court not intervened to save their local council? What part did the local MP play?In the book you will meet a large Residents Association whose regular factual, unbiased e-mail newsletters became required reading for many people. The author of this book, Jim Biggin, has been on their Management Committee since 2004 and their Chairman since 2008. With his wife Maureen he has lived in Christchurch since 1985. His children and grandchildren live, work and go to school in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. He was deeply involved in Dorset's Civic War, frequently meeting and corresponding with key players. In this book he answers the important questions posed above as well as giving a fascinating insight into the conduct of the war.
