Trying to heal from an emotional wound, Jane Fletcher travels from her home in Seattle to Shell Island, off the coast of South Carolina. A widowed aunt, whom Jane hardly knows, welcomes the company and Jane is content--except for one thing. Her Aunt Irene demands that all windows and door be closed and locked at all times.
